i bought a new pair of dickies. they make me happy. what sucks is that they don't deliver outside of the US. i had to have them sent to kristen. which means i only get them in about three months. she will probably have a pile of things i've ordered by the time i get there. LOL.
last night ola and i headed to jerusalem once again. this time it was easier since i was sorta familiar with where i was going. there were a few places we wanted to go and we hit them all up for a while. there was sushi and a couple of bars. however, unlike last time - the music at the one place we were hoping would kick ass - did not. it wasn't bad, but it didn't get either of us excited. so we continued on our journey...
all in all a good time. not quite as exciting as last time, though. perhaps next time we'll try a new city. and we'll definitely try and be more rested =)

last night was dik's store opening party... since i hadn't seen her in forever, that's where i started my evening. i spent my time there sitting at the bar with hasa. a little wine and sushi (whoever thought of this for finger-food, was a genius =P) was consumed and good times were had.
the second part of the evening was spent at the sub. i hadn't been there in about a month, so it was nice going out to dance there for a change. it was also nice to see some people whom i (almost) only get to see when i go there. i was obviously having a good time cuz i actually stayed till after 5am. lol.
i managed to get about three hours of sleep when it was time for me to get up and go meet ola at the center. since i never really knew about anyone good until now (and also mostly cuz imma lazy bastard) we had made an appointment with her cosmetologist - and that's where we were headed.
got done there and headed back into the city center for food. we stopped at a bar/restaurant on dizengoff called 'bella lugosi.' we were both extremely pleasantly surprised to find that in addition to the great name and the cute decor - the food was excellent and cheep. heh.
food consumed, i had to head home. i was exhausted... and now, after a four hour nap - i have no idea what to do this evening. there were plans, but those have been postponed to next week. perhaps something will come up later =)
yesterday was spent first at work and then with a bunch of friends at a couple of bars and at someone's house. i ended the night at the cheers with ola. we were going to move on from there, but ended up just getting stuck. oddly enough, today i haven't got the slightest bit of a hang over. sweet.
other than that, i went to see my doctor today so he could give me his opinion on how he thinks my stitches look and how i'm healing. apparently all is just fine. however, it won't be until monday that i get my stitches taken out and (hopefully) my results, too.
another thing i that i have not yet done since i started working here is taken a photo of the area/building in which i work. today seemed like a good day to do just that...
the lighting is all wrong, though. perhaps i will try to take another shot of it some other time =)
so this morning i log in to check my email (my web access is currently offline at home) and find an email from the guy who took this:
he didn't like the photo's description (click on it to see what it says) and actually wrote "i don't like you either".
now this is amusing for so many reasons, but i will just state a couple... first of all, this photo was taken in late 2004 and hasn't been up anywhere in years. so actually finding it must have taken some digging. or, alternatively, someone he knows saw it and ran to tell him. umm... let it go, people. secondly, the fact that he felt the need to tell me he doesn't like me either when the only thing i ever did wrong was demand my photos from a couple of sessions in which i busted my ass in the freezing cold, shows signs of desperation. or brain deficiency. or something. i never got those photos, either. to top this ancient fiasco off (i'm assuming because i was giving him a bad rep as a photog that takes forever to give the models what they are owed) - the loser actually started rumours that said i didn't like him because i made a pass at him and he would not acquiesce to my advances. hah. in his wildest dreams i would never have slept with him. but i guess he needed an ago boost that no one would give him, so he gave one to himself. lol.
the photo is currently up because i happen to like it. no one ever said he was talentless. all i ever claimed was that he is an asshole. and the caption is there cuz i have no desire to give the impression that i have any respect for him. but i don't follow his work, i don't care who he shoots with or works for. i live in another country for christ sake! lol.
get over it, brian. it's ancient history. move on with your life.
yea so... disappointment aside, i was happy to have several people over while sitting at home, resting after my surgery. a very warm thank you to those of you who stopped by and kept me entertained <3
i guess yesterday might have been an indication of where things stand. it might not have been, but i'm really thinking it was. oh well. it's not like i'm really surprised. just a little disappointed.
the surgery went ok. it's amazing what full-body anesthesia can do. one minute you're lying, shivering from cold on the operating table, and the next - you're covered in a warm blanket being wheeled into the recovery room. the whole process wasn't too bad. i hate to have to say this, but i'm already used to the way it goes... and besides, i had ola with me to keep me company and entertained. she does rock.
it's really difficult for me to process. i simply cannot wrap my mind around the amount of time that he's been gone. nine years. more than that, i find it hard to imagine what he'd be like if he were still alive. he'd be thirty years old now. my baby brother. thirty.
i mostly never know how to react when i think about him. i miss him terribly. sometimes more than others. sometimes it just seems like a dream. but then there are times like this, when i can do nothing but accept the tears that run down my face...
went out with ola last night. at first we just went to a small place on yehuda halevi for food. from there we weren't sure where to continue to, but we ended up going to the shesek. i had never been there. it was nice enough, though. not too crowded (but considering it was a sunday - i'd say they're doing really well) and with the kind of music i've been appreciating a lot more lately. i didn't last too long. i think i was home by 1am.
on a completely different note... today marks nine years since uzi died.
for the first time since i've been working here (almost a year), i've actually taken a photo of my workspace. heh. i suppose that having a decent camera on my phone helps =P
so on friday late afternoon i headed to jerusalem. got there around 7pm, when i had to wait a few minutes for D to come pick me up. upon his arrival, it was decided that i needed a guided tour of the city. since it was friday evening, everything was rather quiet and our walk was very pleasant. we did that for a while and then headed to his place to hang out before the evening. the evening was a bit nuts. he was DJing and we hung out by the bar. got to meet a few locals and have silly, drunken conversations. it was a long and good night. yesterday was mostly spent sleeping.
the last week has been good to me. aside from one specific thing kind of leaving me wondering, everything else has been a lot of fun.
going out with ola; getting my new pink phone; finally meeting someone i've been meaning to get together with for a while; seeing an ex from ten years ago and catching up...
there are more plans for tonight, but i will not update about those until tomorrow. when there is actually something to write home about =P
i suppose it's only fair that i should have some fun before having that surgery next week. heh.
that's right. i finally did it. i bought a new phone. did away with the old razr v3 and traded it in for a shiny new sony ericsson. the one i got is pink.
and by part one, i mean we will be doing this kind of nonsense as often as possible and hopefully there will be lots more evidence of drunken nonsense =D
i can't stand to tell the details even one more time. the little bit i will say is that it has to do with the medical system; i cried and screamed in public like i've never done before (i made a huge scene), and i finally got what i needed.
the reason they claimed that i was not entitled to what i, in fact, was - was purely bureaucratic. not for a minute did they stop to take another look and see that i was actually right.
i simply cannot believe how unsympathetic people can be. and how cruel it is to make someone have to embarras themself the way i did today only to get something that they really are entitled to.
it's not like i'm really surprised, given my record and all... i was just hoping that the universe had decided it wanted to stop bugging me on this issue.
*shrug*
anyway, next wednesday (the 15th) i will be having my fourth surgery. some of you know what i'm referring to.
this evening ola and i traveled to jerusalem on a whim. we were originally going to go to haifa, but when we got to the tel-aviv central bus station to catch the cab - the first one we saw was going to jerusalem. so that's the one we got on.
i have no patience for details. i will just say that there were a few bars involved, some sushi, a little club-type place and a really cute guy.
on another note, can someone please explain why all the guys i meet are named either daniel or some other variation thereof? lol.
this route is not an easy one. especially on their evening/night flight. this particular journey was accompanied by a loudly snoring man who was sitting two seats from me. luckily, there was no one sitting in between us, so at least i wasn't cramped.
*shrug*
other than that, i always have to wonder about the cab drivers who take me home from the airport. why is it that they assume that i want to have a conversation? it's 5:30am and all i want to do is sleep.
cabbies of the world - please just shut up and do your job. if i have a question, i promise i will ask...

first of all, i would like to state that today marks one year since i moved back to israel. i keep on thinking that it's the 2nd, but as lior has been pointing out - the day i left the states is not the day i came back to tel-aviv. lol.
so yes. it's been a year. and what a year it's been. lots of good things happened in my life, and lots of crazy/weird ones... as well as some not so pleasant things. then again, i suppose that's more or less the way a year's time looks in anyone's life. i think my point is that i still think that moving back to israel was a good idea. i have not yet gotten bored with my life there (i am currently in gibralter, hence i cannot reffer to tel-aviv as 'here'). on the contrary. i mostly find it very fulfilling. minus a few things that i would change.
so there's that. and then there's the fact that i've been in gibraltar for almost an entire week for the purpose of training that took us less than two days to do. i really wanted to push my flight up so that i could come home early. but alas, there were no available flights and i have more or less been spending my days doing nothing. nothing meaning sitting in front of the computer for hours on-end - reading blogs and news websites, assisting my office when ever needed and chatting with friends.
while the last two nights were a lot of fun (wednesday night was ian's good bye dinner at bianca's at the marina and last night i went to patagonia for steaks with the girls that have relocated here from the israeli office) - my days have been a complete drag.
oh, and i've eaten steak four out of five nights that i've been here... someone give me some sushi now!!!
i know that when i lived in nyc i was always baffled by the whole hosing down the sidewalks in the mornings phenomenon. i never got it and it always seemed silly to me... here, however, in gibraltar - they take things one step further. not only do all of the sidewalks get watered - but they also get shampooed! not all of them every day. rather, they seem to have a schedule for each area of the city. ... ...
